Downton Far Rockaway continues to draw developers since the city broke ground on its $288 million rezoning project last September.

PMG, a national real estate developer with more than $40 billion in assets, has launched its Affordable Housing Division with a $35 million supportive housing joint venture project with M/WBE, Brisa Builders at 19-15, and 19-19 Cornaga Avenue.

Several major developers have made plans for Far Rockaway projects in recent years. Related Companies is planning a 149-unit residential building at 14-06 Gateway Boulevard, and Brisa Builders is planning a 219-unit mixed-use development at 13-38 Central Avenue.

Eight women on the group include CBRE president Mary Ann Tighe, architects Laura Ettelman, SOM, and Hana Kassem, KPF, and builder Ericka Keller, Brisa Builders.

According to the mayor, each of the advisory councils will be led by a deputy mayor or head of a city agency and are in addition to several coronavirus task forces that include a racial inequity coronavirus taskforce to ensure that city’s hardest-hit get what they need.

It’s rarely a good sign when a press release is issued late on a Friday afternoon, as was the case this week when Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled his construction and real estate advisory council. It is the first phase of long-gestating Ebenezer Plaza, which will, in total, result in four buildings across two large lots. According to the city’s Housing Connect, there will be more than 500 affordable units across the entire complex.

A roughly 195,000-square-foot project in Far Rockaway rounded out the top five for March. The 219-unit mixed-use development comes from Brisa Builders Corporation, an affordable housing company, and will stand nine stories tall at 13-38 Central Avenue. It will include 219 residential units across about 132,000 square feet, and it will feature 12,000 square feet of commercial space and 51,000 square feet of community space as well.

EAST FLATBUSH – A Brooklyn community broke ground on an affordable housing development Sunday afternoon, a project that’s been in the making for more than a decade.

The Evangelical Crusade of Fishers of Men were joined by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Council member Jumaane Williams and Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte on Sunday to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new low-income senior housing development in East Flatbush.
